1. Who is Shan?
Shan Isabell is someone who had extensive private contact with Alice Glass and her bandmate and partner Jupiter Keyes over several years.
In 2024, Shan Isabell released a statement documenting her personal relationship with Jupiter Keyes, where she alleged abuse at his hand, and also details what he shared with Shan about his life with Alice Glass.
Shan went on to describe what she experienced at both of their hands when they contacted her to retract, after her allegations and the police investigation into him were made public.

3. Who is Jupiter Keyes?
As described on This blog, Jupiter William-Hoover Keyes (or Jupiter Io as he’s re-named himself) is an American male, born August 11, 1978 making him 47 now. He studied psychology which landed him a job working with traumatized young girls in an orphanage. He allegedly transitioned into music as a way to attempt to recover from his drug use.
Jupiter joined the critically acclaimed noise-rock band HEALTH in 2005, this led him to meet Crystal Castles in 2007. He spent about 5 years slowly integrating himself into Alice Glass’s life, and began a relationship with her in October 2012.
In October 2014, during a planned hiatus from Crystal Castles to prepare for the upcoming album (IV) Alice spontaneously announces her departure from the band on Twitter. Some speculate that Jupiter influenced this decision.
Alice Glass publicly positions Jupiter Keyes as her savior, and supports him openly after his 2024 allegations, which some note is a glaring contradiction to her 2014-2026 solo career theme of escaping abuse, advocating for the eradication of all predators, and support for other women and survivors.

This blogpost is written by Kevin, a former employee who was also part of Alice Glass’s inner fan circle and evolved into a close friend of hers. Through his time around both Alice and Jupiter, he writes that 2012 is the start of Alice’s abuse at the hands of Jupiter. Within 2 years of being with Jupiter, Alice Glass leaves Crystal Castles, he notes, with Jupiter’s hand guiding her. Her statement on Twitter in 2014 describes this as the end of the band.
“I am leaving Crystal Castles. [ ] Although this is the end of the band, I hope my fans will embrace me as a solo artist in the same way they have embraced Crystal Castles.”

In 2015, Alice and Jupiter release the “Alice Glass” project’s first single- titled “Stillbirth.” in response to Crystal Castles continuing without her.
Jupiter is later removed from HEALTH (reports circulated online about his predatory behavior being the cause) and he begins full-time on “Alice Glass” as the primary producer for the project, with not one official “Alice Glass” song being made without him.
In 2017, AliceGlass.com made a web post accusing Ethan Kath- Alice’s former bandmate in Crystal Castles, of abuse.
Fallout ensued, including Alice’s sister Paige disputing the majority of the claims and their context, having been a live-in witness to both relationships, and asserting that Jupiter is far worse.
This is not a declaration of the integrity of the allegations against Ethan Kath- merely backstory on Jupiter Keyes’s fixation with deflecting onto Ethan Kath and the dynamic between Jupiter and Crystal Castles as a whole.
4. Is there a police investigation into Jupiter?
According to Shan’s testimony, yes. In Australia, where the alleged crimes occurred.
6. Are Alice Glass and Jupiter Keyes in a relationship?
Alice Glass and Jupiter Keyes were previously married and worked closely together for years, both professionally and personally. According to public accounts, they separated romantically in or around mid-2022. During that period, Alice reportedly lived separately and toured without Jupiter for part of her 2022 tour (which could explain her more personal social media posts during that time, including reminiscing on her time in Crystal Castles)
Despite the reported separation, Jupiter has remained deeply involved in Alice’s career. He continues to be credited as a producer, performs with her live, and maintains a visible role in her public-facing work. As a result, many fans and observers question whether the relationship has meaningfully ended in practice, regardless of its current romantic status, or lack of.
According to statements attributed to Jupiter, the separation period coincided with increased conflict, including Alice expressing a desire to publicly accuse him of abusive behavior (“Ethan him,” in his words). During this same period, Jupiter is alleged to have sought relationships with other vulnerable younger women.
In 2024, Shan Isabell publicly accused Jupiter of abuse, adding further scrutiny to the nature of his continued proximity to Alice as recent as 2026.
The private nature of Alice and Jupiter’s relationship today is unclear. But their professional and personal entanglement remains significant, and that this ongoing involvement is central to understanding the concerns raised by Shan and others.
7. What is Alice’s role in all this?
According to Shan:
Jupiter kept Shan a secret until ~2024. After this point, Alice knew much of what was happening
Alice texted and called Shan from her personal phone independently, during these conversations Alice dismissed Shan completely, gaslighting her that she had spoken to Ethan Kath (she never did) and attempting to convince her to retract
Alice did not intervene in the ongoing abuse of Shan by Jupiter and his associates
Alice defended Jupiter vehemently, in text messages and on her leaked Reddit
She knowingly reinforced narratives that protect him
She remained tightly connected to Jupiter throughout Shan’s declining mental health and her pleas to be heard by Alice
She bought Shan a gift, hoping she would comply to their demands of Shan to retract, and was aware of payments and gifts made to Shan by Jupiter
Alice Glass has stated that she is concerned for the well-being of other women. However, her public remarks have at times framed trauma as comparative or a competitive experience and have dismissed or minimized the accounts of others, including Shan, creating an observable contradiction between the concern she says she has, and her documented responses to other women’s disclosures.
In 2025, Alice released 2 songs directed towards Shan, including one casting a woman as an extra that Shan had privately messaged about the severity of Jupiter’s abuse with her, and warning her of his dangerous behavior- seemingly to send a message to Shan- we don’t believe you.
8. Why are people calling for a boycott of Alice Glass?
Because many believe that the solo era is not actually solo.
Shan’s statement uncovered a harrowing part of Jupiter’s control over Alice- the financial aspect. With allegations that he married her in order to benefit from California’s community property laws, with Jupiter now owning 50% of her earnings while married. He also told Shan that he had been deceptive with Alice’s earnings, as he had sunk a large loss into crypto and needed to cover it up on their taxes so Alice didn’t find out. Shan also spoke of the theft Alice alleges she a victim of pertaining to her Crystal Castles royalties (most people have seen her viral tweet asking to not stream Crystal Castles because she’s being “gutted”)
But Shan says that she became aware that 5+ audits were done on Ethan Kath and all came back clean. Alice also sent a direct message to a fan after this tweet (which was allegedly written by Jupiter, not her) where she completely denies the tweet’s truth by saying she does in fact hold 50% of shares on every Crystal Castles song- and most would say that’s not “being gutted”
Alice has reportedly been seen consuming excessive amounts of substances before and during live shows in her solo era- to the point of being almost unable to perform, contrary to her early career where she was a high-energy performer. It appears as the motive for her performances is profits over well-being, and the driving force behind that could be Jupiter Keyes, as her alleged benefactor. If the demand to have Alice Glass continue playing in this state is lessened, then Jupiter loses the ability to profit off her pain. Thus, Boycott Alice Glass.

9. Isn’t it unfair to criticize Alice if she’s a victim?
Even if Alice Glass has been harmed by Jupiter, this is a complicated situation in which a person who may be a victim is also participating in conduct that protects someone accused. Shan recounts how Alice is aware of Jupiter’s behavior, and how she is not simply actively minimizing it, but intentionally casting Shan as the subject of new songs lyrical and visual content, sending a message of intimidation and malice towards her.
The clear tension of this dilemma creates a difficult question: how do we acknowledge the potential harm done to Alice while also addressing her continued support of Shan’s alleged abuser? For some, accountability, rather than unconditional sympathy, is seen as a form of tough love to disrupt this dynamic. From that perspective, calls to boycott Alice Glass are not an outright denial of her own possible victimization, but a response to the ways her public persona has shielded harmful behavior. Until she stops being shielded by an oversimplified victim narrative, critics argue that there is little incentive for her to reassess her alliances or disengage from a partnership that remains damaging to others, and potentially herself.

10. What is Alice Glass’s age?
Alice Glass has publicly listed her birth year as 1988, a date that appears across official biographies and press materials. However, multiple public records, firsthand accounts, and contemporaneous materials suggest she was born in 1987. Shan stated she saw Alice Glass’s passport, which she confirmed lists a 1987 birth year.
This discrepancy, combined with allegations that Jupiter handles a significant portion of Alice’s press and public messaging, has raised broader questions about the extent of his control and the consistency of the public narrative. For many, it has unsettled assumptions about what information regarding the history of Crystal Castles was safe to take at face value.
This archive does not assert a specific intent or motive behind the age discrepancy. It exists to document that conflicting information has circulated publicly, and that age claims play a meaningful role in how aspects of Crystal Castles’ history and Alice’s early career have been understood.
These type of inconsistencies (like online claims that she is being gutted, while privately saying she has 50% share in royalties) call into question who exactly is speaking on behalf of Alice Glass. These inconsistencies also frame the context of broader allegations about narrative control, including the same attempts to influence or reframe Shan Isabell’s statements.
11. Why does Jupiter’s (archived) defense post blame Crystal Castles?
In Jupiter’s repeatedly archived and unarchived post blaming Crystal Castles for orchestrating Shan’s statement as part of a smear campaign he is the victim of, he presents selected text messages as “proof” of his claims, however, Shan immediately refuted, and proved these messages were coached and made under duress. Shan continues to deny Crystal Castles were involved in her statement to this day. Rather than issuing an apology or addressing the substance of the allegations against him at, Jupiter chose this false narrative for these reasons:
Shifting the blame to Crystal Castles removes the focus on his own conduct and turns interest towards a more enticing conspiracy
Crystal Castles, particularly the public discourse surrounding past allegations, already functions as a recognizable villain in fan spaces, making it an effective scapegoat
It tries to exploit circulated narratives about Ethan Kath to give Jupiter’s defense credibility
It diverts attention away from Shan’s over 70+ screenshots of evidence, in order to ignore their substance altogether
It avoids the sheer volume and overwhelming detail Shan provides
It attempts to reframe Shan as both manipulative, and manipulated by Crystal Castles simultaneously, a framing which collapses on itself
It erases Shan’s own agency, discrediting her as manipulated instead of intelligent and brave, therefore diminishing any future disclosures she makes as well
He took Edith Frances’ private support of Shan and twisted it into a way to make his false claims about Crystal Castles’ involvement seem believable, pressuring Shan to say she had contact with and a sexual relationship with Ethan Kath. Shan denies this and says Jupiter paid and threatened her over it
It reinforces old positioning of Jupiter as a savior, protector and martyr, not a participant in harm
It preserves his access to protective spaces where audiences are still sympathetic towards him

Why this matters
Jupiter has a longstanding history of vilifying Crystal Castles for other unrelated situations that affect his personal life. Some claims Jupiter (and at times, echoed by Alice) have made in the past against Crystal Castles include:
Planning to fabricate a story for publicity about Crystal Castles (post-Alice) inflating their score on Pitchfork (the ‘inflated’ score was 6.9)
Claiming that Crystal Castles copied a 2015 demo of Jupiter’s for their song Frail despite evidence that Frail was recorded in 2014, disproving his claim
Claiming that music videos featuring Alice Glass (Affection, Sad Eyes) were deleted from the official YouTube channel, which fans immediately documented was not the case
Jupiter alleged the Affection video had been deleted at “10 million views” but the video had never surpassed 2 million at that date.
Repeatedly characterizing Edith Frances as a “clone” of Alice Glass, despite notable differences in the two women
Participating in a blog that used edited images to support those claims of imitation, then endorsing it publicly
Accusing Ethan Kath of choosing Edith Frances as Alice’s replacement solely because they have the same birthday (August 25) and similar birth names
Claims in interviews that Alice Glass wasn’t allowed to cancel shows when her leg was injured, and the journalist’s editor had to add a disclaimer that she canceled 9 shows
Harassing Crystal Castles fans for listening to anything other than Alice’s solo project
These patterns are cited by critics as context for why Jupiter’s response to Shan’s statement has been met with skepticism. Many note that it’s simply another mention of Crystal Castles in a longstanding history of deflection.
12. What is Edith Frances’s role in all this?
Edith Frances became the vocalist for Crystal Castles after Alice Glass’s departure in 2014. While Edith was not publicly involved in disputes between Alice Glass and Jupiter Keyes, she later became a target of hostility from Jupiter during the period when Shan Isabell describes escalating abuse.
According to material that has circulated publicly, Jupiter directed threatening and intimidating social media posts toward Edith, including imagery involving firearms. These posts were not vague or abstract: they were described by witnesses as being intentionally aimed at Edith during a time when Jupiter was aware she had knowledge of his behavior toward Shan.
Public screenshots show third-party accounts stating that:
Jupiter specifically posted weapon imagery to taunt or intimidate Edith
He was aware Edith had prior trauma involving weapons
He asked detailed questions about Edith’s trauma through mutual contacts
When confronted and asked to stop, he acknowledged the behavior, then continued posting similar content afterward
These incidents are significant because they align with a broader pattern described by Shan: intimidation, fear-based control, and retaliation toward people perceived as threats to Jupiter’s narrative.
Edith has never responded publicly. Her role in this story exists as a secondary target, someone who by proximity and knowledge, became subject to intimidation tactics that others describe experiencing as well.
The relevance of Edith’s experience is not about positioning her as a central accuser, but about illustrating how Jupiter’s behavior extended beyond private relationships and into public intimidation when control or secrecy was at risk.
Why this matters
Edith’s situation helps contextualize Shan’s allegations by showing that:
Jupiter’s conduct was not isolated to one person or relationship, but extends to many
Threatening behavior surfaced when others possessed knowledge he did not want shared

13. Who is Kevin?
Kevin is a former employee and long-time fan who was closely involved with Alice Glass and Jupiter Keyes over several years. Kevin ran the popular fan YouTube Channel Untitled-Profile, and used the former monikers ‘Bodydecay’ and ‘Fetus_fatale’. Today, he runs ‘Remixed_Rewired’ on Instagram, which lends support to Shan. Through direct communication, in-person interactions, and creative work done at Alice and Jupiter’s request, Kevin gained firsthand insight into how narratives were shaped and fans were mobilized to do so.
These usernames of Kevin’s were employed by Alice and Jupiter to repeat narratives they wanted amplified, often regarding their hyper-fixation with controlling the perception of current Crystal Castles lineup- Ethan and Edith. Kevin’s statement outlines just how deeply fan manipulation and misinformation was spread in the community, through not only himself but many other fans, and his personal account of their manipulation and control over him which resulted his gradual disillusionment. Kevin’s testimony sent shockwaves through the fandom. He spoke out because of a deep sense of injustice after observing years of astroturfing done by Jupiter and Alice firsthand, and his conviction to correct the record- and call for an end to Jupiter’s control.
14. What should collaborators, journalists, and other musicians know?
Continuing to support, review, and amplify this “Alice Glass solo” career, may unintentionally:
enable a man accused of extensive misconduct
bury or silence a victim’s documented experience
legitimize a project where the artist’s autonomy is disputed
repeat the same patterns that Alice once spoke out about
Most collaborators don’t want to be a part of enabling this- but many simply don’t know about it yet.
15. What is the goal of speaking out?
The goal is:
To protect other future partners of falling victim
To honor Shan’s bravery and strength to speak out on behalf of preventing other victims
To center Shan’s safety
To protect fans from falling into a romantic relationship, or into a dynamic where they are used as propaganda machines in exchange for proximity
To keep Jupiter from using Alice’s platform as a way to control narratives by manipulating and threatening others into compliance
To encourage Alice through accountability to stop enabling abuse
To ensure accountability about the music industry as a whole
The goal isn’t cancellation, bandwagoning, harassment or attention. The goal is education, hoping for accountability and change, and ending the bystander effect.
